OD Properties has deep roots in Prospecton's industrial landscape. The property itself was built in 1967, and in 2000, the Dhlomo family saw its potential and made it their own. For over two decades, this site was home to Rheem, the family's steel drum manufacturing company that became one of South Africa's leading operations in the industry, serving customers nationwide.

The devastating KwaZulu-Natal floods of 2022 changed everything. Like many businesses in the Prospecton region, Rheem sustained significant damage. Rather than rebuild the manufacturing operation, the family made a strategic decision to exit the company. Rheem was sold and rebranded as New Rheem under new ownership, but the Dhlomo family retained ownership of the industrial property where it all started.

In late 2022, we shifted our focus to what we do today—running a full-scale industrial park. New Rheem stayed on as one of our first tenants, and we've since expanded the property with additional buildings to meet growing demand. What began as a single manufacturing site has evolved into a modern industrial park serving logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing companies that need reliable space in a strategic location.
